What is Coaching?
Imagine a relationship where the total focus in on you, on what you want in your life, and on what will help you achieve it. Imagine meeting with someone on a regular basis whose total job is to support you to succeed--however you define it. That is the coaching relationship. There is no other relationship in our lives that consistently offers this extraordinary level of support and encouragement, practical guidance and positive accountability.
We all live in a changing world with the speed of change ever increasing. This phenomenon often triggers stress and confusion and a sense of being overwhelmed. A personal coach can help turn these stresses into exciting challenges and enable you to meet them with increased confidence and know-how. A coach helps you draw on resources within yourself that you may not know you have.
A personal coach works with you to help you achieve goals and chosen behavior change in your personal, social, academic and career life. Professional and personal coaching addresses the whole person--with an emphasis on producing action and uncovering learning that can lead to more fulfillment, more balance and more effective living.
What is Student Coach?
Student Coach now brings the benefits of a coaching relationship to the college campus. Student Coach makes available to students anywhere a relationship to an adult who is not a parent, not a professor and not in position to evaluate. A coach for students knows and understands the stresses of college life, the choices needing to be made and the developmental challenges of this age group.
There are many students in universities, both large and small, who know they would benefit from some skillful attention to their goals, organization of their lives and decision-making skills, among other things. These students long to be more effective in taking care of their lives, determining where they really want go and successfully planning how to get there on a very practical level. That is what a coach is for! If more students felt free to tap the support and wisdom of their own personal coach, who is not a parent and doesn't carry the stigma of the mental health system, then more silently struggling students would build the self confidence and skills they need to be successful in their academic endeavors and beyond.
There are too many students who operate out of “quiet desperation,” feeling out of control and just hoping things will turn out OK . There are too many parents who know that their son or daughter is not thriving but don't know what to do about it! If you a one of those parents--or one of those students--StudentCoach provides an answer to your concerns. Many students may have little idea of what they want from their education, let alone their careers and do not know how to begin to figure all of this out. That is where Student Coach comes in!
Helping students begin to identify their goals, aspirations and dreams and from there begin, with support and help, to journey in a focused direction through decision-making and action is what Student Coach is all about. Building self confidence and success is the result.
